Foundation Development Officer Job Description
Job Summary
The Development Officer for the Hamilton General Hospital Healthcare Foundation (the “Foundation”) is a contracted position that reports directly to the Foundation Board of Directors. The Foundation exists to support the growth, acquisition and development of services, facilities and equipment for the Hamilton Healthcare System to enhance medical care for area citizens.
Duties:
The primary function of the position is to assist in raising funds for the Foundation via contact with potential donors, grant agencies, foundations, and other funding sources. The Development Officer will also assist with planning and organization of Foundation events, certain documentation and record keeping for the Foundation, promote the purpose and information regarding the Foundation, and carry out related assignments as directed by the Board of Directors. The Development Officer will attend all Foundation Board meetings and keep the Board informed of development progress and activities. Work schedule and time are not specific and are flexible as needed to accomplish the duties and goals.
Qualifications:
The Development Officer must be a self starter with knowledge of the Hamilton Healthcare System market area and possess good people skills. The Officer should have a professional demeanor and appearance, communicate effectively, have participated in community or public solicitation, have knowledge of grant writing and grant research activities and have current information technology skills to assist with research, documentation, correspondence and record keeping. The Officer will need to be able to furnish a computer, work area and transportation.
Compensation:
The Foundation will pay the selected candidate $1500 per month to carry out the duties and objectives as outlined, payable on the first of each month. Depending on productivity and results, there is an opportunity for bonus consideration as determined time to time by the Board of Directors. Expenses related to duties of the position including out of area travel must be approved in advance in order to be reimbursed by the Foundation.
